About Us
We were founded in 1930 by Mr Whitehouse, the current owners grandfather at Roundstone House, East Preston near Worthing in West Sussex. The Business, known from its inception as Roundstone Caravan Depot, flourished well and could justifiably claim to be one of the earliest caravan concerns in the South of England.
During the next few years a new location was sought and our current site in the village of Southwater was acquired.
At this time the only entrance to the site lay across 2 railway sleepers bridging a ditch exactly where the main entrance to the caravan park is now situated. The long task of turning what was at the time over-grown agricultural land into the peaceful residential park and busy caravan sales centre that exists today had begun.
The entire stock of caravans were towed one by one from East Preston to Southwater and unhitched just where they stopped. In the meantime, a well had been dug and a water pipe ran through to a hand cranked pump.
The war years brought all business at Roundstone to a virtual halt and the only regular source of income came from the rent paid by the five tenants in residence.
When Mr Whitehouse sadly died in 1951 the business ceased with the exception of the 12 tenants, either residential or holiday who were now on the park.
Bob Morris the current owner came to Roundstone in 1957 after completing his National Service. He started the business again and was joined later by his father. During the early 1960s, a permanent licence was received which enabled the park to develop.
Unfortunately Bobs father Jack died in 1968, but with the help of his mother, Doris and wife, Natalie he continued to run Roundstone. Today Bob and Natalie still run the companies. Roundstone Caravan Depot, consisting of their award winning residential Roundstone Park and Raylands Park, the lovely landscaped holiday park which is also located in the village. Plus Roundstone Caravans Ltd, the sales and service centre for both new and used touring and static holiday caravans.
In late 2001 the new buildings of Roundstone were conceived and the facilities fully opened in the Autumn of 2002.
We still endeavour to offer our customers value for money and quality service, a business practice that has continued from the companies conception.
We are main agents for Adria touring caravans plus we carry a large range of specially selected used tourers, plus new and used holiday homes. N.C.C. Approved workshops and skilled technicians.
